Striking first, found themselves in an advantageous position, but as the game continued, the physical play of took control, and a bad turnover in the third period from Andrew Ladd helped put on the board. In overtime, while defending in the defensive zone, Goligoski tripped up forward Teemu Selanne, putting his team a man down. It didn't take long for to strike as they won the first game and ruined home-ice advantage.

Instead, the system of speed and skill took over and paid off handsomely as they forced the pulling of goaltender Jonas Hiller after he let in 5 goals on 29 shots. Budaj couldn't hold them off, allowing a goal on just 3 shots. sent the message to their goaltenders, and they will need offense if they want any hope to rebound from this disastrous loss. Huberdeau's hat-trick was spectacular, and the kid has taken his role as the second line sniper and run with it.

Patrick Sharp and Luca Sbisa each led to six blocked shots apiece, and those blocks very well could have spelled the difference in this game. Sacrificing the body earns a victory, with a late goal by Bobby Ryan, and a second costly penalty by Alex Goligoski for earning the double minor for high-sticking on Teemu Selanne... again.

That set the tone for a physical affair as had control of the way the game would be played. A latter half of the game surge between youngster Huberdeau and veteran Arnott was not enough to overcome the damage had already inflicted upon thanks to the work of Etem with a pair of goals and the solid goaltending performance of Jonas Hiller.

Game Story: This game went very similar as every other game. wanted to get out to an early jump, and they did. Ovechkin decided to show up this season in at least one game, and the continued, successful outlet pass of Ryan Parent helped bury the first two goals. The second period saw utilize their defensive system and they immediately put themselves back in the game on a powerplay goal that didn't come off the infraction of Goligoski for once. Unfortunately, in that comeback process, managed to squeeze another biscuit past Hiller, and the third period was shut down by both goaltenders.

Out of the gate first, opened the scoring on a one-timer from Patrick Kane. It was a goal Rask should have had, but it's not blamed on him. immediately responds with two quick goals, but a late period rush by Patrick O'Sullivan seemed to take the wind out of balloon. The second period needed to be a strong one for but after battling end to end for the first ten minutes, it was who struck first thanks to Cam Fowler's end to end play. got revenge on the late period goal with just a minute to go in the frame as youngster, and series dominator, Huberdeau scored to tie the game at 3 apiece, but the very next shift proved costly as Patrick Kane scored his second of the game, securing another late goal to end a period and push the game to the third, where was successful in implementing their shut down game. pulled the goaltender with a minute left to play, but it wasn't enough and Corvo scored an empty netter to cap off the Season 6 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
