Alright, this rule is now official, but has been amended after a discussion between myself and PR which we feel will more adequately address concerns for specific teams.
This only applies to players who have been drafted into ManNHL beginning with Season 7 and onward as no player from previous drafts have yet to sign a contract.
When a player is drafted, the GM must post his auto-contract for each player (can all be in one thread) based on the below options. GMs can select different options for different players, they do not need to commit to only one option. This allows the GM to decide which auto-contract better suits that GMs planning for each specific drafted player.
Note: All players' contracts are concluded as RFAs after their first deal, and UFAs for all subsequent contracts.
OPTION 1 - THE 2-YEAR:
All first round draft picks:
-1M per season
-2-year deal
-2-way contract
All second round draft picks:
-875K per season
-2-year deal
-2-way contract
Pros and Cons: Teams get a cheaper pay to test out a player in his development, but the player can demand a higher contract much sooner and if it's only a one-year deal, the player can become a UFA after three professional seasons.
OPTION 2 - THE 3-YEAR:
Top 5 selections:
-2.5M per season
-3-year deal
-2-way contract
Selections 6 to 10:
-2.25M per season
-3-year deal
-2-way contract
Selections 11 to 20:
-2M per season
-3-year deal
-2-way contract
Selections 21 to 30:
-1.75M per season
-3-year deal
-2-way contract
All second round picks:
-1.25M per season
-3-year deal
-2-way contract
Pros and Cons: The price tag is a tad higher, but it still cuts out nearly 4.5M in bonuses that could have been applied prior to abolishing the bonuses. Players have a third year, thus the earliest they can become an unrestricted free agent is in year four. Teams can plan to have a potential star in the making locked up longer with a better contract that suits the players potential growth in the game as he earns his opening contract.
Teams have the option of choosing whichever auto-contract they feel is appropriate.
Teams must post their decision in the extensions thread, and will be automatically approved unless their post fails to address anything required in this rulebook page.
If teams fail to sign their player in year one, said player can only be signed to a one-year deal in the second year of his ownership, regardless of which option the GM wishes to select.
All surrogate teams (GM-less clubs) will automatically be auto-signing their draftees to the 3-year deals as those clubs may require more time to earn an owner and keeping the player for the extra year is crucial to this process.
