www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/opinion/stanleycup2012/2012/04/penguins-vs-flyers-two-teams-that-hate-each-other.htmlIs it better when two playoff teams really hate each other? My initial reaction is yes of course it is. I love seeing fans get a little bit crazy about their team, but then when I think about it a little bit more I'm not sure its such a good thing. You could say that back in the good 'ol days when anything went in the playoffs and they got exponentially more violent without there being exponentially more calls that it was if nothing else exciting. But what about now? Does hate help in an increasingly less violent game? I think it can. Hate can be a fuel- a determination. But the players and league has to remember no one wants to see a game where a full line rarely touches the ice. Hits have to be clean- but the bigger the better. Instigation rules should be abolished.... oh wait that's another topic.

I think it's less about hate and more about extreme rivalry. This should be the most entertaining series.
