MIKKA KIPRUSOFF G 4.00 UFA 2019 NMC
Kipper has a NMC so he can't be waived, but we don't have a location for buyouts. This is to show the Leafs have committed to buying out Kiprusoff's contract and will be on the hook for 2M for the remainder of the season. Kipper will immediately become a free agent.
We hoped with a 1-2 combo between Kipper and Luongo we would have the necessary goaltending to push us into the top of the East, but the experiment failed as Kipper could not regain his previous, Flames form in a Leafs uniform over the last year and a half.
We wish him the best of luck and have called up Ben Scrivens to split duties with Luongo for the remainder of the season.
