It's probably too early to tell, but let's review some of the deals that went down this past Trade Deadline on ManNHL.
showed up to the party late, but managed to shed some cap, bring in two top four D-man in Jamie McBain and Keaton Ellerby, and a few prospects. Hopefully the moves will shift the Oilers up the rankings from 6th in the West, but losing prospect Murphy in the long run could be a big hit.
did a bunch of stuff. Who the fuck knows what this guy is thinking but the biggest name to move was Milan Lucic, and the biggest name they acquired was Travis Zajac. Lots of prospects came in so prep for the future. Currently - loser.
stayed active as expected, and brought in RJ Umberger for the right side to compliment Iggy's talent. With their big trade already addressed well before the deadline (acquiring Iginla and Aulie) the Flames hope their moves will pay off immediately for post-season help. Giving that Umberger cost them a minor leaguer is a plus.
was swinging trades faster than Lou Ferigno's mouth at a conflict party. Out went Vasyunov, Zajac, Voynov and high end prospect Charlie Coyle, as well as Turris and Parise. Wow. In came Landeskog, Kadri, Evander Kane, Andrew Cogliano and Zach Bogosian. It's a bit of an even draw but they get younger and gritter and Bogosian can be this year's Super Hit. Like, super saijan type hitting and shit.
faired well. Some first and second round draft picks, high end prospects, and perhaps most of all, the underrated performer Danny Briere came into the fold. They also secured the suprise of the year player Alec Martinez and gained a significant package that included Blake Wheeler for Rick Nash. I'd say a good start to a solid rebuild. Now to dump Matt Stajan.
got Rick Nash and Mikko Koivu. Good for them, fuckers.
acquired a younger forward in Patrice Bergeron who will hopefully continue to improve with a fresh start.
acquired the highly sought-after Milan Lucic as well as the not so highly sought after David Krejci, as he learned when he tried to re-deal him. That said, Lucic is on pace for a 30+ goal season, but the loss of Jason Garrison could cost the club, although they do have the depth to fill that spot.
did a deal. Then he talked about random things in the cbox that no one cares about. Good for him.
did everything they could to make their team not the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he did a damn good job at it! After a near roster-swap trade with the Blues, which earned him Brent Burns and Ben Bishop in the swing, he brought in the gritty scorer Chris Stewart and a defenceman that no one wants. This could pay off immediately or all of these players will be re-traded by the end of the playoffs.
didn't do anything because he was on vacation, so he's a loser.
didn't have to do anything because he's a perennial winner.
didn't tear it down and that makes me continue to fear .
So what's your take. Who's the biggest winner and the biggest loser?
