MEGA SPOILERS!!!
Bane or Joker?
Hype due to Heath Ledger aside, I like Bane better. He is deeper, and more fleshed out, and he has much better control of his followers. And his followers are not mindless nothings. They are willing to die for the cause with smiles on their faces, and heads held high. It takes a special type of leader to gather followers in such a way.
Joker is good, but I like Bane better. Especially in light of all the Talia al Gul stuff near the end.
Bane 4 Lyfe.

Joker is way better since his character actually makes sense. he wants chaos everywhere and what he does is actually the right thing. he thinks that he is the true depiction of humanity since all the "civilized" people would just kill each other in rough times. this proved true in "Rises" when the people start rioting on the streets, killing all the rich people e.t.c. Joker knows what's right. Bane is a good character but he's like any other tough unbeatable type character. he's just a personal bodyguard pretty much and nothing else. They don't even explain his mask thing clearly and his past is revealed and he actually is human and has feelings unlike Joker who does it because he wants everything to burn and his mysterious past makes him more exciting and keeps people guessing as to whether he was born that way or some event caused him to hate the world. Joker's thugs follow him because he offers them money. No one even knows why Bane's followers follow him. he's ruthless and kills his own men. No one would follow that guy in real life so it's less realistic to have people follow him than Joker who offers the clowns lots of money by robbing the bank e.t.c. The whole Al-Ghul stuff is not good at all though. idk why they wanna kill Gotham City because it goes against what they stand for. They stand for justice, but by killing Gotham, they would be killing countless innocent civilians. Talia's revenge also seems kinda shallow since she hated her father but after batman killed him, she loved him all of a sudden and wanted to complete his task. that's snake and two faced. Rises was still great though because the character development of Batman was awesome and the ending alone makes it EPIC. Dark Knight>"Rises">Batman Begins. all three were the best trilogy ever and the best movies ever made for me.

"No one would follow him in real life"
Oh, that is SOOO untrue. The parallels of Bane are that of real-world terrorists and extremist groups, both here and abroad. People follow the fucking Westboro Baptist Church, and their crazy leader. People followed Hitler, and Bin Laden, and Bush, and Hussein, and Castro. And pretty much every other major revolution throughout time had a leader to stand behind. Sometimes being a good leader is all it takes to give people the inspiration to make them want to do anything for you and your cause. And Bane has that. He gets people behind his cause. He pretty much had Catwoman behind his cause, though not as strongly as his other followers in the League of Shadows.
What's interesting, when you break it down, is the juxtaposition of the Joker followed by Bane duo as they relate to Batman/Bruce Wayne.
Joker took Batman and absolutely destroyed him emotionally. He fucked with his will, and his faith. Batman survived these, and still had hope in Gotham. But primarily, Joker took Batman's heart - the "love of his life", and murdered her.
Bane, on the other hand, was all physical. He destroyed Batman physically. And financially. Physical things, with physical scars, rather than emotional ones.
In fact, when you tie that in with Scarecrow in the first movie, you have:
Batman 1 - Batman survives psychological warfare Batman 2 - Batman survives emotional warfare Batman 3 - Batman survives physical warfare
That is why this feels like such a complete trilogy for people. It's actually quite brilliant when you put the whole thing together and look at is as a whole.
NEAT STUFF!
That said, as good as Batman is, it is NOT the best trilogy ever. Even with a dip at part 3, The Godfather is pretty much undisputed the best series of films ever.

I agree with PR.. Bane eye's were full of malice, you hung on his every word.
I quite enjoyed PR's Psychological, Emotional, Physical, summery of the series,
Best Trilogy?
The Bat Movies are good.
Godfather Yea I'll give you that there better...
But what about:
Lord of the Rings? I'd put them over godfather... 3 Solid movies with amazing acting... tops 2 great movies, and a bastard third one.
or the Back to the Future? Marty McFly Kicks Bruce Wayne's ass... 80's style...
and Most importantly what about STARWARS!!!
Old ones.. not updated... and fuck the knew ones...
I wouldn't be surprised if Dal'ass was a fan of the new ones... bet he has Jar-Jar Binks tattooed across his chest.

See, you can't really compare most trilogies. They are about different things. LotR is great. Love LOTR. And Star Wars. But I am not comparing those to Batman or even Godfather. Everything doesn't need to be in competition. It's all very, very good shit. And even among batman stories, it's all different. Tim Burton's Batman is great. It basically paved the way for the dark Chris Nolan batman. So comparing them is like comparing Howe to Crosby. Different times, different styles. Both very good.

I love the psychological, emotional, and physical analysis. never thought about it that way at all. Batman woulda beat Bane anyway if Catty hadn't betrayed him. he wouldn't face Bane one on one like that an would do it more sneakily and find out his weakness. Bane has the biggest weakness ever. which is how Batty bested him in their second go. Catwoman was all selfish and in real life, Batman wouldn't have trusted her in the first place. Catty was never behind Bane, she wanted to distance herself from him. If she knew Batty was Bruce Wayne, she wouldn't have betrayed him in the first place.

Catty was in favour of Bane's revolution. Sure, she was never TOTALLY behind it, but she was very in favour of the whole Robin Hood aspect - share the wealth type thing. Which was the core of Bane's revolution - at least that was how he chose to frame it for the media.

you have to remember dallas, Bane received the same training as Bruce Wayne. striking from the dark, taking people by suprise. it wouldnt have worked...
quote from the movie after batman throws smoke bombs...
"Theatricality and deception, powerful agents for the uninitiated. But we are initiated, aren't we Bruce?"

Bane still sucks because of his glaring weakness. If it was Batman in his Prime vs. Bane in his prime, Batman woulda won. That's why he wont the second time because he trained more and realized that a punch to the mask will decapitate him sorta. The first fight wasn't even fair because Batman already knew he had no hope to live. There were guys with guns everywhere anyway so he knew he had to lose. He shoulda found out Bane's weakness though

The Killing Joke is a good graphic novel for Joker-Battman Yes, almost anything by Alan Moore is very good. The first few Joker appearances in Batman are surprisingly good. Most old Batman comics are really lame and tacky (just as a result of being sooo dated). But the ones with the first appearances of the Joker are actually quite good by those standards. They aren't Dark Knight-y, but they are good. - The Batman Chronicles - Vol. 1.

For the record, The Sandman books are the best graphic novels pretty much ever. They aren't Batman though.
