Ways to Get Points- You receive 1 point for every 100 forum posts* - You receive 5 points for every member you bring to the site** *Leafs receives 1 point for every 250 posts, and Florida receives 1 point for every 150 posts
** on the conditions they announce that you directed them here when they sign up, they take a team, and stay active for 1 month. Points awarded after the 1 month period. Leafs is ineligible for this reward. How to Spend Points- Once you have some points to spend, post them in the Points Allocation thread here. - Use the Modifiable Player Attributes board as a guide when submitting point-spending. - Unless there is unanimous uproar, Mike and I think it would also be cool if points could be used to help with cap. So you can also use a point to save 10% on one previously-signed contract. Things to Know About Points- You can use any earned points on any player on your team. - Points system starts now. To keep things fair, we are only partially awarding points retroactively. Everyone over 200 posts gets 2 points. Everyone else gets 1. From there, every 100th post gets you a point. This means if you are at 299 right now, you get 2 points, then after 1 more post, you get a 3rd. If you are at 1101 posts, you have 99 posts to get another point. And so on. - You can save your points if you wish to do so. Post any questions, comments, or concerns below, in this thread.

okay I like the player upgrade idea because in RL, teams get to train their players but the cap thing is completely unrealistic now...
People could be saving like 1.5M from the get go I don't like this idea at all. This should be the most realistic league possible and the cap idea isn't that realistic. Plus what happens when you trade that player? Does the cap discount remain or does it go away? This might make people more hesitant to give away their guys if they are cheaper than before.
Also, if we decide to spend 2 points on a player, is it 20% on the original cap hit or is it 10% off and then 10% off of the revised cap hit?

Mike is wrong. It's 10% off the original cap, then that is updated to a new salary, then another 10% off that. Never 20% or more straight off the original cap. I am not having people save up 10 points in order to get free players. It's 10% off your salary. Then that is updated, then 10% off the updated salary if you use a second one.
10M contract + 1 point=9M then another point=8.1M. and another=7.29, etc, etc, etc.

Also @dallas, the most common reason people tell me they can't trade is due to salary problems. If more people use points to reduce salary, more trades should come about cause people can afford guys
If you want me to translate it to realism for you, it's like instead of using your team resources (posts are like revenue) to schedule practices to improve players, you are using that revenue to hire better negotiators that get you better contracts automatically.
We have always said board activity is like revenue, which is why cap goes up when we have an active year and it stayed the same we were less active. It all makes sense in that paradigm of "realism" if you keep looking at it that way.
