To Carolina RW - AUSTIN WATSON $3.2M RFA 2017
To New York Islanders C MARC SAVARD 4.007 UFA 2017 CHAD LAROSE 2.400 M UFA 2016 *currently in minors* Andreas Athanasiou 0.875 M RFA 2016 2-way
Savard had more points then Watson last year. Watson isn't really performing to what he has in the past with the Islanders. Since of the age difference there, Athanasiou is thrown in as a future prospect. LaRose is just in there as well because I have no use for him anymore, and maybe the next Islanders GM will.

Larose has literally no bearing in the deal, but for a player dump stand-point, I'm actually alright with him being in there for that same reason. Savard was an Isle before, and they could use another top nine forward. Watson hasn't been good, but he's younger and cheaper, but for an extra 800K for Isles to spend to get another prospect in the system without affecting their line-up, I'm fine with that.
Note: I was not part of negotiations in this surrogate offer, which makes me believe that Canes simply went to the league as his acceptance/rejection proposal, and I am also fine with that.
I say yes.

I say yes as well, especially since Larose is a FA next off-season anyways.

Only issue is, woudn't Larose have to clear waivers to go to the minors again

It was negotiated with me. ANd I said to keep LaRose out since his contract is a cap eater.
I'll still surrogate-accept, on the condition this trade (including LaRose in the NHL) does not put NYI over cap.

He doesn't, because when you acquire a player in the minors, he is essentially being traded from their minor league to your minor league team.

Oh, I thought you wanted him in the deal PR. I'll take this either way, I just thought that LaRose was useful for me in the past (like 2 seasons ago) maybe Islanders could fine some use for him later on.
So is this deal accepted/rejected?

Approved, finalized. It had sufficient time to be rejected and no one really seems to feel it is a bad trade at all, so approved.
