Episode 1:Dumb-Ass Trades top 5 #5: The recent Dallas/Flames trade. What the hell ya thinking Dallas for taking on a shit load of extra salary for a guy who produces squat in the game (Tanguay)? Not only that, he's bound to go down in ratings whne the 09 game comes out. Morrow, on the other hand is worth his weight in gold, is under-ranked IMO and makes less than Tanguay (and was signed for 6 years at that lower salary) Calgary won this trade by a margin of 65% to 35% #4 - Toronto rapes DetroitTo Toronto: C Kris Draper (83) $2,128,000 UFA 2011-12 C Micheal Nylander (83) $4,875,000 UFA 20011-12 LW Tomas Holmstrom (82) $2,250,000 UFA 2010-11 D Niklas Kronwall (80) $3,000,000 UFA 2012-13 To Detroit: Wolski 83 RFA Svatos 80 RFA DEVEREAUX C 77 0.575 (1 year) Pogge G 82 600K (2 years) 5th in 09 Lets break it down: All producers in the game and ones that will make an active lineup going to Toronto (including a major producing defenceman): 83+83+82+80 = 328 3 non-producing forwards and a shit-ass goalie and a major crap pick going to Detroit: 83+80+77+82 = 322 of really shitty players, where svatos, devereaux and the crappy backup in Pogge wont even play. And then to only get a 5th round pick to make up the 6 rating gap? This trade should NOT have been let to go through. Leafs absolutely raped Detroit by a margin of 85% to 15% #3 and #2 (combo of 2) that Boston was involved in, when you combine them.1st one: To Bruins: Plekanec, 5th pick To Wild: Renberg 82, Afanasenkov 78, S.Thornton 74, Reich 72 Apart from the salaries, I didnt know a 5th added up to 3 extra players, with one at least making an active roster this year. But then in trade 2, Bruins traded Plekanec away to Montreal for a 3rd in 09 and a 4th in 10 So put them together and he lost renberg 82, afanasenkov 78, thornton 74 and reich 72 for a 5th round (crap pick), a 3rd pick and a future 4th round. Bruins got beat up collectively, especially seeing that Plekanec is sure to jump to an 83-85 in the 09 version of the game. Wild won 60% to 40% Then Montreal won 65% to 35% OK, and finally the unbelievable one.................. #1 : Leafs destroy Oilers futureThis one is just plain ugly To edmonton Richards 88 (7.8 salary) Stuart D 82 (3.5) Nylander C 83 (4.875) 2nd pick dallas to Toronto Gagne 85 (0.875) Cogliano 85 (0.875) I just dont get it on many levels. New young guns with high ranks, no salaries and a bright future for crappy has beens and one guy who produces in the game in 08 (Richards) but is sure to drop in 09 game....and the salaries...jesus H christmas!!!!!!! Talking about christmas, I hope Toronto promised Edmonton a huge gift under the tree this year for this complete ripoff. Toronto the Grinch won this easily 75% to 25% This ends our first episode of Between the crack pipes. If we ever get to simming, we can do one with the bumhole team list for toilet rankings. someone got a light for my pipe? cheers.

official rebuttal of my "rape": 1. before manon came in, pogge was set to be my backup - how many other people in this league have a back up of 82, costing 600K?
2. no one gave me any offers for any of the guys i gave leafs. but since getting wolski i have recieved offers of up to an 87 for him. AN 87 FOR AN 83 STRAIGHT UP
3. if ratings matter i have also recieved offers of 82s and 83s for svatos (an 80)
4. the draft pick gave me room to work out another deal with another team that will be posted soon also upgrading my team
5. Top scorers: Draper (37 years old) has 40 pts in 64 games, WOlski (21 years old) has 21 in 33 games. in the next `10 years, who will get more points? thats what i though
6 svatos won;t even play??? hes basically my second line rwer, good math skills
7. speaking of math skills, this trade also saved me over 6 million in cap.
8. from the looks of this whole tihng i tihnk you are just trying to suck up to toronto cause he is an admin. you are staff, why didn;t you reject any of these "should not have gone through" trades
so much for your credibility in my book.

ooo I'm looking forward to the response since this is a show about criticizing others. A slack back at the system by Detroit, let's see how the system responds to the slap.

If you wanna personalize this debate (about credibility) I have no problem whatsoever with that. (1) To use a real player that plays on a roster to coincide with a backup goalie in a trade (that plays about 5-10 games all year) is idiotic. You cannot compare the 2 in a trade. Put it this way, my backup was a 78 and did you see what my team record was last year? Your argument is a bad one. (2) If you are getting an offer for an 87 straight up for Wolski who flopped in real life last year and is bound to go down in the 09 game, the trades, if posted, will be rejected right away. If it isn't, it will definitely make my next dumb-ass trade list. (3) & (6) You go too much by names and not ratings. If you have an 80 on your second line, I can't wait to play you. Svatos is shit in the game. He's an 80. I'm not saying he's not good in real life. What I'm saying is he does not produce at all in the game, and unfortunately, this is a sim league, using gameware variables....and again, Svatos sucks in the game. (7) Of course it saved you alot of cap space. The players you got in return are crappy in the game and as the old cliche goes, you get what you pay for. (8) Suck up to toronto? You must have me confused with someone else. Toronto and I have not seen eye to eye on many things, which earned me the title, El Corrupto. I never suck up to anyone. Ask the PR about our arguments when I first came on here. These trades are just a few examples of people getting owned in trades. Period. And as far as rejecting, I get busy once in a while running my business and taking care of my family and sometimes i can't get on in time to comment on a trade before it is finalized. Once it reaches that stage, its pointless to write anything on the thread. But speaking with other GMs about these, they all said that they remember rejecting some of them. So who knows? (9) So much for my credibility in your book: Hmmmmm..... My credibility actually stems from being in about 10 sim leagues now and running my own. Not to toot my own horn, but I have made the playoffs every year in every league. I have won the cup 3 times. I have lost in the cup finals 2 times. I have lost in the semi finals 4 times. I am now finishing our 5th season in my league. If theres anyone that knows who produces in the game and who doesnt, its the simmer (who posts all the boxscores). Anyways, these are just a few of the trades I found during a 5 minute search. There will be many more listed. But thank you for your comments. A show is nothing without a good audience. Now, back to my pipe.

Svatos has never sucked in my EA games, just my 2k games. Hell, in my latest season, after 2 years he was rated 89 and twice has been the leagues top goal-scorer. And considering the youth exchange, I still think the Det-Leafs deal was fair. And yeah, Islanders is more of the shit-disturbing type - with me anyways. I suppose that doesn't exclude the possibility of him having his nose up Leaf's arse, but still...

How has he been in NHL08? I don't think he finishes top 100 in my league. Thems the facts Jack. Hes an 80 rated player, which puts him one step above most rookies and non-active, roster players. Adam Mair is rated higher than him. If he were that good, many people would be all over him in every sim league.

meh, well I still disagree. In my current season on NHL 08, he is rated 89 and is leading in goals (again). If my camera had working batteries I'd grab ya some screen shots. As I always say, it all comes down to ice time and how much you invest in a guy. I've had Phaneaf also drop down to a 78 because he was on my 3rd D line. Each season is different - thats basically the moral here.
