CHECK
as chosen by Mr. Winky.
The common word has a specific meaning, an alternate definition, and an uncommon representation. Yes, this one word means several things and is why I have decided to use it as this week's word.
Miriam-Webster Dictionary:
1. Exposure of a chess king to an attack from which he must be protected or moved to safety.
2. A sudden stoppage of a forward course or progress : arrest b: a checking of an opposing player (as in ice hockey).
3. A standard for testing and evaluation.
4. A mark typically a checkmark placed beside an item to show it has been noted, examined, or verified.
5. A slip indicating the amount due, ie: restaurants.
6. It is a method of payment from employer.
Urban Dictionary:
1. Paper money you write.
2. When a person has no chin or neck. instead the chin and neck combine together form check.
Famous Quote:
"Best check yo self, before you reck yo self. "

Why "check"?
It's been a discussion of money and how to pay for specifics in my life. I was extremely bored while people we're discusing the methods of finances. I was providing them a blank stare and thinking to myself the endless ways this word could be used and how this banker managed to use it in three different contexts in a matter of minutes. Made me wonder if it's their favorite word. Maybe they too are hung up on checks, or maybe they skipped out on a dinner the night before, dash and dine, fuck those were crazy times. I remember when Frank used to jump the fence and the waiter wou... ah fuck I did it again!
