I suggest we get rid of the auction system all together. I don't like how staff are forced to accept "auction deals" and I really don't like how we have a PR and buyouts and despite all that, players can still become UFAs FREE if no one accepts them on auction. What then happens to the rest of their contract money? They lose it. Thats silliness.
I suggest we get rid of auctions all together. They are the only thing ultra-unrealistic about the site anyways. Does anyone agree with me?

Um..... every league has Auctions and so when a player becomes a FA his team deosnt take the Contract right?

The only thing I could suggest to fix that would be that if no one decides to bid, the player is still on your team rather than going into FA.

The catch with that LA is that there is no risk to auctioning a guy, and "losing". Personally, I fucking LOVE Det's suggestion, cause I hate those crappy fucking auctions with a passion. Moreso than the bloody name game (heh heh heh). As a Player Rep, it makes no sense for a guy to just lose his contract out of no where.
I 100% support Detroit's suggestion to rid us of this shit.

I'd like these to stay, it's good way to recycle your crap, and I'm sure we've all been through having a player we can't fucking get rid of...this is a perfect way to not only possibly add the final piece of the puzzle to an elite franchise, or put him back in FA to consider all options once again.

Well you could have a situation like, say if I was auctioning off Jason Spezza, but the best offer someone gave me was a first round pick. In a situation like that, you'd be forced to take that first round pick no matter what? That is why you should not be stupid enough to put a fucking star on an auction. You put overpaid guys or just guys you dont need on auctions. |

I know that, but I'm just trying to make a point that you should be forced to auction that player if anyone bids. But I'd agree with getting rid of the whole auction too.

Yes you can buyout a player's contract, but you're still stuck with some cap for the season [correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not 100% sure]. Eg. I needed to cut some cap, and I didn't need Chris Mason (3M), and the easiest way to get rid of him was to Auction him off. I get a draft pick to put towards next years draft which will make my team better. (Honestly, I don't know why NYR even offered me something  ) |

Yeah, but I think thats my point from a Player Representative's perspective. Auctions only benefit the teams, never the players. In my opinion, they are a cheap cop out to piss-poor general managing, and as such, i would love to rid the league of them. People need to really think about whether they wanna offer a guy (for example) 8M a year with a NMC when they don't even know who the guy is.
There is nothing like an auction in the real NHL and there is nothing like an auction in any of the bloody games. Its a silly little thing some mindless jackass thought up to go with his cheap little sim league, and its stuck ever since.

Any new thoughts on this? Leafs and I have discussed a number of options, but in the end, I would LOVE to can this stupid idea once and for all. TO HELL WITH AUCTIONS! BURN!!!
