Alright, here's the lowdown. Basically, I don't have the time I used to have to run these sim sites, but I also don't really have an interest in abandoning arguably the greatest sim site of all time on the net. So here's my suggestion on what we do. At the end of this post, I'd like everyone to say I agree, or I Disagree.
The Suggestion:
We all essentially have the teams we want and like to see how the kids develop. We're going to go ahead as usual, but I won't be posting day by day threads anymore. I'm going to go back and do the "1 month simming" thing used to do, and for each team, I'll post the top 10 player stats and both goaltending stats per month. At the end of the season, every team will be provided their entire team stats. I won't be posting screen shots of each team's individual month records, but I will be updating screen shots of the Standings and Top 50 Player Leaders, as well as Top 20 Goaltenders.
Basically, the only downtime the site would have now is during the offseason when I'm working on rosters, which Florida has offered to help out this time to make it go faster. I did the same for his site NHL-GM, and it was really almost ridiculous how fast we got that shit rolling.
So that's the suggestion. The trade activity has been low because people are starting to act more and more like the real NHL gms, which is what this site was meant to be, so why not live it the same way. I'll do 1 month of simming every week. That means that every season will take approximately 7 weeks, plus a 2 week game by game stats of the playoffs, that is something I won't be fucking around with. The playoffs are where it matters most, so I'll put the time into those. Then we have a 1 week voting conference and awards ceremony, followed by the draft, and then free agency, which should last about 2 weeks. So the entire offseason will be 3 weeks long, 1 week for the draft, 2 weeks for free agency. Then simming resumes for the next season.
You all really are the best members a sim site could ask for, and I have no interest in abandoning something we all share. Thank you for your cooperation as well as a lot of fun for the last year and a half!
Let me know your thoughts.
Side Note: This also means we will be implementing the calender on this site as well, mapping out everything.
