As much as I do not believe Crosby is the greatest player IN the game, he is the best player FOR the game. The kid does everything he can to sell the NHL to America, and this season he went overseas where he did god knows how many interviews to discuss the NHL and sell the game to Europe. Crosby is what the league needs right now, and that's why the league, for the most part, is right behind them. The dollar is dropping in the states, the game has reached its peak and a lot of teams are starting to come down and are nearing bankrupt now that the players are losing their own escrow money due to lack of revenues, and the game needs a North American face to pave the way for hockey since Gretzky left. So yes, Crosby is in the top ten players in the league. Crosby is better than Malkin, and skill wise is behind Ovechkin, not by a lot, but he is behind him. They both bring heart to the game, something neither Semin nor Malkin bring, but the two are completely different players. Crosby does what he can to lead his team, either by stirring the pot with the other club (which people misinterpret for bitching) - every player in the league complains and when a young guy does you give him shit? Give me a break. Ovechkin complains too, but we don't bitch him out for it because he's European and all Europeans complain.
Fact is, without Crosby and Ovechkin, the game of hockey would be in a lot worse condition than it is now. Whether you love or hate either of these two, the NHL absolutely needs them.
And no one, and I mean NO ONE can tell me that Crosby is more of a complainer than Brett Hull, and that guy was considered a God. Maybe lay off the kid.

Yeah he's overrated when he goes on a 25 point streak scores 50 with ease and goes on pace for 130+ points.. Crosby the best player on the planet right now
