Some important notes about NTC/NMC waive requests. For newbies, all requests for a player to waive a NTC/NMC are sent through PMs to the Player Rep's inbox.
About NTC/NMC
AKA What the damn is this?
A NTC is a No-Trade Clause. It means that you, as the GM, need the players permission to trade them to another team. A NMC is a stronger form of NTC that also extends to waivers, and minors. It means that if the player is going to be moved off the NHL roster of a team AT ALL, the team needs the players permission to do so.
Who Sends It?
AKA Who sends it?
- the team the player currently plays for (prior to waiving)
- ideally, it is sent before the trade is posted, but no biggie on this front.
Information:
AKA What to include
- Player Name
- Team they are being asked to waive the clause to go to - no one will ever just waive in general. TELL THEM WHERE THEY ARE BEING ASKED TO GO!
- Reasoning for the move (i.e. "Another player was added to our team, and now this guy might have too much competition on this team to get the mins he deserves")
Format
AKA Requirements of the PM
- a semi-descriptive subject line (I may ignore all "(No Subject") PMs, so just put something like "Thornton - waive request", or "Campbell - NTC"
- quote any previous PMs (instead of clicking on "reply", click "quote")
Notes
AKA Additional Info you should know
- We will have a post listing all players with NTCs.
- For the time being, we do not have partial or limited NTCs in this league, even if the players real-life contract has one. Those contracts are treated like regular NTCs here.
- if you want to increase the odds that a player will waive to play for your team, feel free to send a PM as well, outlining the role the player in question will play on his new team
- I will probably reply relatively immediately, but be patient.
- once a player agrees to waive, I will confirm it in the trade thread (so if its not already posted, PM me when it is).
- Remember, when a new UFA is signed, he comes with a 15-game (or 1 season - which ever comes first) NTC. This avoids teams signing players JUST to trade them, as often happens in sim leagues, but rarely in the NHL.
- Having a NMC does NOT affect a team's ability to buy out a players contract. Same terms apply, but the buy-out is immediate. You PM PR with your intention to buy-out a player, and then post the buy-out. You pay the player 50% of their cap hit for double the remaining years on the contract. Details and examples can be found in the Buyouts section.
