Calgary gets: 2012 NYR 2nd Round Pick D Mark Giordano - $4,020,000 - UFA AFTER 2015-16 - 1-Way D Paul Martin - $5,000,000 - UFA AFTER 2014-15 - 1-Way *NMC* C Jordan Staal - $4,000,000 - UFA AFTER 2012-13 - 1-Way Pittsburgh gets: 2012 CGY 1st Round Pick D Christian Ehrhoff - $3,500,000 - UFA AFTER 2013-14 - 1-Way C Evgeni Malkin - $8,700,000 - UFA AFTER 2013-14 - 1-Way D Craig Rivet - $890,000 - UFA AFTER 2011-12 - 2-Way Penguins accept, get Malkin back. After this deal I only $45K in cap space though.

I'm not a mind reader or anything.. but does anyone get the feeling Calgary is trying to ruin his team?
How does Pittsburgh get the best player, arguably the best d-man and the higher pick?

Flames, since Malkin was a key component in the Niedermayer signing, aren't you concerned Scott will walk?

No they won't let anybody else "switch teams". I thought this was a move that would help my defensive depth.

I actually see Flames view point.
With Malkin he still does not have the best offence, so he's going to try and trap it all season while Staal, Jokinen etc will provide offence and they will try and win their games 2-1, 3-2 etc
