Explain how this is circumventing a) the cap, since the cap hit goes DOWN if we do a cap hit, and b) the players agreement, since the PLAYER here has protection to go where ever he wants for the next 6 years?

Aren't Player Options illegal in the NHL? Whether they are or aren;t, we have always allowed them, and had them in re-negotiations. We also do lots of things to make ManNHL more accommodating for GMs.
