Like I've said several times, it isn't the idea of Belfour coming back. It's that ridiculous contract. It it was a one year deal worth ~$1M, I'd have NO problems.. Look at Claude Lemieux or Theo Fleury in real life, they tried. Howe played in his 50's.
It's just giving a guy like that $5M for 5 years. It's just stupid.

Would you guys be open to do something like this?
If the current Panthers GM gets fired or quits before the contract is up, the contract is void thus not fucking up the new GM.

I personally don't care how much he gets, but I think 2 years on this contract would have been fine. We'd all just laugh at Florida for signing a shitty contract.

Only if you get Garth Snow to PM me and let me know that if he retires or gets fired, Rick DIPietro's contract becomes void.

All valid, and when put like that we thank you, those GMs making the trades, Drury/Langkow should be kissing your ass, lol.
I still stand by my statement, it's a ridiculous contract. Not the idea of Belfour coming back, that is a possibility. Just Florida offering up a contract like that, mind boggling, really. lol

I still stand by my statement, it's a ridiculous contract. And I will be honest, that contract is a LARGE reason why Eddie decided to come back. Look at the damn thing!

I completely agree Predators, but you have to put this in perspective, as stupid as it may be.
70s and 80s bands are reuniting now to continue touring and people still pay money to go see them. It is very similar to what Belfour just did here. He took a fan favorite who used to play for his team and wanted to bring him back. He would pay out the ass to do it, but he wanted to bring him back for one last hurrah, and I can't say I blame him for trying.

But in the end, guys, the vote is yours. Veto it if you want. Its not that big of a deal. If you think THAT CONTRACT is bad, and you think THAT SIGNING should be undone, vote it down and its done. That's all there is to it.

3 more votes (as edmonton and someone else voted wrong, so they are reversed which cancels each other out) and Belfour contract is gone.

Also, those arguing we don't have an NHLPA and we don't have a NHL, that's false. We have an arbitration committee and we have our members in a democratic league. PR argues his side for the NHLPA, everyone argues their own sides as the NHL.

If the contract is void what happens? Does it mean Belfour is off limits? Or does Florida need to make a less significant offer while trying to please the player?

It means Belfour remains an unsigned old man (free to offer to I guess). Like everytihng else, it will be done on an offer-by-offer basis. The odds of florida getting another offer in that will get Belfour back is slim though. And thats not out of spite for this. FLorida knows how hard it was to get this deal done. Belfour rejected a 4 year 4M contract before this one.

Holy smokes peoples Florida is the one paying for it not you. Realistic or not he said he's staying here for the long run what more do you need? Leafs you and PR picked the guys who applied for a committee and only 6-7 GM's are on that and PR is a player agent he cant also be the NHLPHA. I still stand by this signing. I won't get why you guys call this unrealistic is Jagr signing the 7 year contract with the oilers anymore realistic then Belf signing a 5 year contract? This is also the beginning of something new if the majority thinks any trade or signing is unrealistic they get there way regardless of the fact there not spending a flipping penny on the player. I guarantee some of you that voted yes also wanted Belfour that's why your opposing it
