Thursday came to a close and the Gary Roberts Conditioning camp concluded with wild success.
“It was an eye opener to say the least,” said Christian Ehrhoff who told reporters he could feel the difference in his body. “He taught us how to understand every muscle and the importance of their function to our game.”
When asked who he felt his biggest improvement was during the camp, Roberts replied rather quickly.
“Turris,” he said. “I expect big things from him this season.”
In response to Roberts’ praise, Turris was more humble to the experience of the camp.
“I hope I can live up to expectations this season,” said the young Coyotes prospect who many considered a bust. “But I don’t think I’ll ever get used to zucchini spaghetti.”
Michael Del Zotto considered the camp to be one of the most rigorous experiences in his career.
“I’ll admit it, I didn’t know what to expect heading into it,” said Del Zotto. “People talked about it, but until you’ve actually experienced, it is actually pretty crazy.”
When asked his favourite part, Del Zotto considered it the one main surprise he didn’t expect to see.
“You ever see Stamkos throw up from exhaustion? I did... twice.”
The Roberts camp featured over 70 players and one player in particular was most appreciative of the opportunity.
"It's plagued my entire career," said Forsberg. "I can't thank him enough. I feel like I can play my game, and not a modified version of it."
"Get ready, Avs fans, because this time, Foppa really is back."
The conditioning camp is expected to run in each off-season for different players each year.
