Bolts Cap - Currently at 66.007 -Stamkos and Ohlund contracts = 55.900 +Couture, Roy, Thoresen, Boyle contracts = 72.567M This trade would put Bolts over the cap by 5.567M, which means in order to be cap compliant, Bolts would have to waive either Dan Boyle immediately, or St. Louis, or a combination of Gagne, Malone, Lombardi, Rachunek plus another player such as Daniel Paille, Chris Kelly, etc.
So while I do think it's a great deal for both sides, the cap circumstances would have to put it on hold while Bolts figures out their cap, and has until tomorrow night at midnight to do so. Given that Bolts has been rather quiet on the trade front until this, I doubt this will happen. That said, players also need to waive contracts in this deal (Ohlund, I believe Roy as well and definitely Boyle). I will be willing to process this deal if Bolts can figure out a way to make his team cap compliant in order to complete it, but I just don't see the point in potentially throwing away talent on the waive wire to do so. Why give up 4 good assets when you can keep them all and make the right moves during the off-season with more time?
Just my 2 cents.
