Okay, so these are going to sound complicated, but I promise you, its not.
In order for a player to be bought out, he must first clear waivers.
This section applies to season 2 only.
Note - to buy a player out of their contract, you MUST have a budget page.
From there, here is what you do if you decide to buy-out a player.
The Example
First, find his contract and duration, and PM the player rep with the details and the plan to buy him out. It should look like this:
(Subject Line - Bertuzzi - Buyout)
Buyout
Todd Bertuzzi
contract: 5M/year for 5 years
if the player has a special contract type (high-low, or low-high) you must include that also:
(Subject Line - Bertuzzi - Buyout)
Buyout
Todd Bertuzzi
contract: 5M/year for 3 years
high-low deal (6M, 5M, 4M)
The player rep will never disallow a buyout, but he will confirm numbers for you and finalize the buyout. Once he sends you a message back that says "accept" you post the buyout in the new Buyout section.
The Details of Buyouts
Buyouts on ManNHL will work like this. You will play 75% of the players highest seasonly wage (so, for Bertuzzi above, with his high-low contract, you use 6M, not his 5M average - with regular contracts, its just the regular salary number).
So, Bertuzzi will be paid 4.5M (75% of 6M). The 4.5M will be split in half between the team's cap hit and budget page, thus:
cap-hit=2.25M
budget hit=2.25M
This is all for one season. Immediately after a buyout is finalized and posted, the player is a UFA (keep this in mind when buying out RFAs - you will lose compensation).
So, to recap, this is what you will send the PR, if we're still looking at Bertuzzi above (this is all for mathematical confirmations and shit so we don't screw anything up, and so PR knows whats going on with his players)
What to send the PR (include all of this stuff below)
(Subject Line - Bertuzzi - Buyout)

contract: 5M/year for 3 years
high-low deal (6M, 5M, 4M)
buyout total: 4.5M

That's all there is to it folks.
Last thing, with this crazy new feature comes a crazy new idea - the FPC - The Franchise Player Clause. When offering UFAs or extensions, you can offer these, so players know they are secure on your team.
Cheerio, and have fun!
