Over the span of this last week, some things have happened here at ManNHL. The Avalanche brought forward Alex Tanguay back to the organization, sending Brad Marchant and Carolina’s first round pick in this years draft to Dallas. Then, the Leafs sent Brad Richards, Brad Stuart, Michael Nylander and the Stars 2nd pick in 09 to the Oilers for two of there young forwards in Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano. The Lightning finally managed to get rid of the big Eric L. and in turn received Jim Slater, Toronto and Philadelphia’s 4 round pick in the upcoming draft, and Philly’s 1st in next years draft. Toronto was involved in another trade that sent Battaglia, Detroit and Dallas’ 5th picks in the upcoming draft to the New Jersey Devils for Kyle Calder.
On the free agent front – Phoenix managed to pick up Patrick O’Sullivan for a contract worth 1.3M/ year over 4 years. Tampa signed Martin Cibak to a 1 year deal worth 500K. The Canucks snatched up Serge Aubin for a contract that earns him 975K a year for 3 years. The Canucks also picked up Jim Dowd, giving him the same contract as Aubin. The Devils managed to pick up Kurt Sauer, a 4 year deal that earns him 650K a year. Brian McGrattan is still in Canada’s capital signing a contract of 500K for 2 years. Jan Bulis is now a Flyer, signing a deal worth 700K a year for 2 years. Branislav Mezei is a Flyer as well, earning 550K a year over the next 3 years. Perhaps the biggest signing of the week was Detroit Signing female goaltender Manon Rheamue. She signed a 1 year deal worth 1M. Along with the contract came a NMC, guaranteed 15 games, and retirement security.
