What will the leafs do next?

After the McCabe trade 8 days ago i and many are left wondering what the leafs will do next. wheather it's in the next few weeks...between october and december or heck even the trade deadline.

Eklund of hockeybuzz said the leafs could go after Patrick O'Sullivan who got 22 goals and 53 points last season with the kings. That is preety impressive for a player just at the age of 23.

Eklund came up with a deal from his sources and he listed it as a (E3)

"Three various sources have told me that a trade may be in the works to send Patrick O'Sulivan to Toronto for Van Ryn, Mark Bell and a two mid-round picks. "

These two mid round picks i would think would be a 3rd and a 4th....and the leafs would lose much salary and this could be Fletchers biggest move yet. But if Ek's sources are right on this one or not....it still seems to good to be true for me.

On to Mats Sundin

I have heard just about half the league wants him. The Tampa Bay lightning The New York Rangers all are said to be some of the main teams. But i want to know is how? Aren't they to close to the cap to sign a 5.5 million dollar guy?

And now it's been said that one more team along with the lightning have joined in this long Sundin saga. Lets go over the teams that are interested shall we?

- Toronto Maple Leafs- Are said to given a offer to Sundin for 7 million for 1 year.
- Montreal Canadians- Was the first team allowed to speak to Sundin...they have been in this since the draft
- Tampa Bay Lightning- I would bet 100$ that Sundin would not go there
- New York Rangers- Are to close to the cap for me. Trade Gomez and his cap to be in this for real
- Vancover Canucks- If sundin wants money he will go here. They offered him a 20 million dollar deal over 2 years.
- Philly Flyers- I don't see them in this.... i just don't They may be right in this but to me it doesn't make sense
-Retirement- This is what i see him doing. Maybe a Brett Farve thing but with less drama.

Those are the main teams interested in him. And who knows when Mats will make his decision...All i hope is that it's soon!

I'll explain the "how" part.

There is a new clause that is coming into effect on the 15th, the same clause that Brandon Shanahan and others are waiting for.

The clause allows teams to pay the players whatever they want, and have the contract laced with "veteran bonus clause" that gives them whatever amount of money in bonuses that DO NOT count against the cap.
