I first off would like to send my concolences to the family's that were affected by the 9/11 incident 7 years ago today. Truly a sad moment in North American history.
And now to Eric Staal
He signed a 7 year contract with Carolina earning him over 8 million a year! Carolina Must think he will hit his carrer high off 100 points again this year because this is a huge contract amount. Eric had 38 goals and 82 points in 82 games last season obviously earning him a point per game average. Which is good for just his 3rd full season in Carolina. Eric definitly is a great player and i think right now he is the better of all the Staal brothers.
An interesting article i found with alot of interesting rumors with one of which said Brandon Shanahan will return to the Rangers this week

"With training camp now just a week away, here’s what you should expect to happen over the next few days:
1. The Atlanta Thrashers hope to land another defenseman, possibly even unrestricted free agent Marek Malik, although they are considering other options. They still plan to give rookie Zach Bogosian the opportunity to make the team.
2. The Anaheim Ducks expect to deal defenseman Mathieu Schneider ($5.75 million) to get their budget in line, and to make room for the signing of Teemu Selanne.
3. The San Jose Sharks might trade defenseman Kyle McLaren. With the acquisition of Dan Boyle and Rob Blake, McLaren seems expendable, particularly since he will be unrestricted next summer.
4. The Chicago Blackhawks will get under the salary cap. Although they probably need to move Nikolai Khabibulin, there essentially is no market for him. That would point to center Robert Lang being the casualty.
5. The Los Angeles Kings will try to add a veteran defenseman through a trade, maybe even Schneider. Right now, young Jack Johnson is primed to get a more prominent role, but it would help him to have one more veteran.
6. Brendan Shanahan will return to the New York Rangers.
7. We won’t know what Mats Sundin is planning to do. Is anyone else bothered by this trend of prominent players not knowing whether they want to play another season? This is not a guy who has to decide whether his body can take another year of punishment. He’s still in the prime of his career.
8. The Tampa Bay Lightning will continue to have a revolving door when it comes to player movement. The (Toronto) Globe and Mail reported that they are now courting Sundin. Another trade seems likely without Sundin. Initially, my take was that it was good for the franchise to have enthusiastic ownership temporarily treating the roster like it was their fantasy team. But now I’m sensing concern in the hockey world about whether the new ownership has a long-term plan.
9. The Nashville Predators might not trade for a replacement for Alexander Radulov. The Predators are kicking the tires on a couple of deals because some available players might help relieve the sting of Radulov's defection to Russia, but the team knows it can’t get anyone who can do what Radulov can do.
10. Mark Parrish, bought out by the Minnesota Wild, will sign with another team for at least $1.8 million a season. After the buyout, that salary would put him near what he should be making with the Wild. Word is that Glen Murray, bought out by the Boston Bruins, is seeking at least $2 million a season."
