Man NHL's season has taken off, and there are plenty of things that are going to be reported in today's (E) - Corner, hosted by none other than Eklund.
Firstly, I've heard rumblings about Alexei Yashin being offered a sub-par contract extension. No news as of yet if it has to do with money, number of years or any other types of terms.
Yan Bulis has been offered several contracts to come back to the NHL. Yan last played for the Vancouver Canucks and the Montreal Canadiens previously before that.
Washington Gm has been approached about defenceman Karl Alzner, but asking price is high. Rumor has it that 2 teams in the Eastern Conference have high interest in him (e3).
Ivan Majesky's name has been thrown around quite frequently as of late, as Buffalo Gm is looking to get his name off the 23 man roster. So far Majesky has only agreed to waive his NTC to one team, that being in the Eastern Conference. He wants to stay close to Buffalo since his family moved there and wants to be able to get his revenge for being treated unfairly once he finds a new home.
Erik Cole is unhappy with his role in Carolina. He feels he can be more useful to another team. Carolina Gm has allready begun shopping him and he is not expected to be a 'Caniac for much longer. His departure is at an (e3).
Roman Turek signing in Calgary has left CuJo with very few options which is the reason for him wanting out of Calgary. He gave Flames Gm a day to trade him or else he would have to make a decision between Europe and Retirement, because reporting to the Quad City Flames just isn't suitable for a veteran such as himself.
Many legends have been asked to return to the game of hockey. Wayne Gretzky was a name that came up, but a flat "No." was the answer to that. Thanks a lot Wayne, you killed some good speculation. He said he was happy being behind the bench and that his career on the ice was over. On the other hand, Super Mario (Lemieux) chuckled and said "Maybe." Could Mario be making a comeback?
Stay Tuned, more to come... eventually.
