Buffalo Banned?
That's the name of the thread on behalf of the Maple Leafs. It seems the recent pms Buffalo has revealed to the league has finally gotten on the commish's nerves. As classy as he always is, he has decided to create a poll in which the league is granted full control of his removal from the league. Rumor has it, Bertuzzi becoming a free agent has sparked a fierce fire in Buffalo that even lead him to claim "if you ban me, I'll hack this league", upon which the Leafs replied "hahaha".
It will be interesting to see if he'll remain a part of the league or if a replacement will be found in the coming days.
Capping Off The New Year
The Washington Capitals were anxious to get a deal done with the Maple Leafs for goaltender Vesa Toskala, who has come up in the rumors once again after failing to be dealt to the surging Montreal Canadiens at the trade deadline this past season. The deal between the Caps and Leafs fell short as Nicklas Backstrom was withheld from the deal. The Caps were quick to turn around and land on and off "amazing" goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. They still search for Russians and many believe Saku Koivu is next on their list. Look to the next few days following the start of free agency for a deal to get done if a replacement via UFA isn't found.
Scatter the Avalanche, Bring Home Those Still Alive
The Colorado Avalanche are rumored to be holding out until free agency to reunite more former Avs. It is believed Rob Blake would return to the club if the right dollar is there. The right dollar is also believed to be less for Colorado than for other franchises pending the Avs re-sign veteran Adam Foote this offseason. There is speculation the two would like to stick around for 2 more seasons together. Joe Sakic is also believed to be looking to stay for the same time as well, joining Forsberg in his last few season. But a big rumor out there is that the Avalanche are trying to find a way to bring former winger Alex Tanguay back into the mix. Dainus Zubrus is mentioned to be a big part of those negotiations but it will be determined in the coming weeks if anything can be done to do so.
