The idea with the drafting system here is as follows:
1. There will only be 30 players entering per season.
2. Each 1st round pick amongst league teams will account for one given player.
3. Draft order will follow that of actual NHL style.
4. Each player drafted within the top five picks get a rating of 75. All those below the top five innitiate at a rating of 70.
5. Adding additional 1st to 5th picks to one of your first picks increases the overall of that player by given amounts:
1st = 5 points 2nd = 3 points 3rd = 2 points 4th and 5th = 1 point a piece.
6. If you have two 1sts (one of which is a top 5 pick) and two 2nds, you can have either of the following:
Two 75 rookies with ratings of 78 each --> 75+2nd round (3 points) for both of them.
OR
One 75 rated rookie and one 81 rated rookie --> 75 plus two 2nd rounders (6 points in total).
OR
One rookie rated 86 (1st = 5 points, two 2nds = 6 points).
7. Worth noting: the draft will be based on the actual assumed top thirty for this years draft. We will mention 40 of them and you can chose who you want in your given position.
Note: Teams that do not have a first round pick at all for the draft will be granted a trade in value for all of their picks to get a player rated a 60.

I like it. It doesn't clutter anything up and it adds much-needed value to draft picks, since guys usually toss em away all willy nilly.

So my picks are: 1st Bos 2nd Bos 2nd Pitts (Chara trade) 3rd Bos 3rd Buf (Kessel trade) 4th Bos 5th Bos
If I end up in the top 5, the player I receive would be an.. 87? SICK! Lower then top 5, the player I receive would be an.. 82?
And I would get to pick what position?

there will be a provided 30 to 40 players. you pick who's left over from the group. IE if you're third pick, you might still get Steven Stamkos.

I see.. So lets say the first defenceman is at #6, and someone in the top 5 takes him, does his rating start counting at 75 because he was picked in the top 5, or 70 because he was ranked outside the top 5?

THIS IS STILL THE DRAFT SYSTEM. HAS 8 VOTES, ZERO AGAINST. HAS BEEN NOTIFIED TO THE LEAGUE FOR OVER A MONTH.
