you can;t waive the contract of a retired player. His contract cannot play in the minors. No one is going to claim his contract. Come on now...
Unless we just signed this, which I don;t think we did, you're on the cap-hook for the 2M this season.

It would end up being like a cap relief trade but technically this is still a player contract.  |

The CAP HIT associated with it isn't, as an evasive procedure to avoid cap circumvention. There is no more player, therefore there is no more active contract. Just the cap hit "penalty". |
