Player: Nathan Gerbe Stats: GP-64 G-16 A-15 P-31 +/- +11 Sitting Jury: Nashville, Anaheim, Chicago For Buffalo:Proposed Salary: 1.6M Gerbe is scored 31 points and averaged slighty under 0.5 ppg. He might be the third line centre on my team and could get around 40 points next season. A base salary of 2M is too high for a short term contract. Gerbe is a great young player and the Buffalo Sabres would like to further develop him in our organization, but business is business. For Gerbe:Proposed Salary: 2.5M Over the past 2 years, Nathan Gerbe has consistently put up an average of 1 point every second game. Last season's stats (64GP 16G 15A 31Pts) show he is an elite prospect in this league. His playoff goal scoring is consistent with his regular season goal scoring, netting 2 key goals in just 7 playoff games. Since he is only 23, he has nothing but potential. With his current rate of production, he should be expected to produce 20 goals, and 41 points in a full season. And that's assuming he doesn't improve, which he almost certainly will have. If given the ice time, he could even crack 50 or 60. Nathan also holds Buffalo's franchise record for fastest 2 goals by one player. No other Sabre has done this. Not Alex Mogilny, not Gilbert Perreault, not Pat LaFontaine. Not even Dominik Hasek! Remember, you don;t need to choose a side, so much as decide on a salary. It can be anything.

2 mill for 1 year at max and no more than that. 1 season doesn't mean he would do that every season. I think 2.5 is a bit too much, just slightly. What do you guys think?

I'm leaning slightly towards the Sabres side. Gerbe has done well for what was given to him, produced at a good/decent pace for his first 'full' year. Showed some good steps in the playoffs. But it's not enough to warrant a increase of just under 300%.
I'm thinking a 1 year(default) $1,850,000 deal.

I also think that 2M a season is too high, and I think Nashville hit the nail on the head. Gerbe has potential no doubt, but this is a one year deal where he will have to capitalize on that potential. 1 yr @ 1.85-1.9M is what I think is fair.

I agree. I said 2 mill per year would be the max. So everyone agrees with the 1.85 mill for 1 year a good contract for gerbe?

I believe so, I'll let PR handle it the rest of the way.
