Player: Jiri Tlusty Stats: 57-6-6-12 Sitting Jury: Nashville, Chicago, Colorado
For Carolina: Proposed Salary:$0.6M
barely played last season, could use more developping time. isn't worth more then a mil
For Tlusty Proposed Salary: 0.9M Carolina says he isn't worth more than 1M, we aren;t asking for more than 1M. Can't we all just agree on 0.9M? Given the right environment, Tlusty could continue to develop into a powerful offensive weapon. On UFA I could get him signed for 1M easily. So we think asking 0.9M is very generous, given his market value and the clear lack of effort put forth by Canes in these proceedings. Since leaving the Leafs, Tlusty has proven he is a + player, and continues to improve his defensive game.
Remember, you don;t need to choose a side, so much as decide on a salary. It can be anything.

He played 57 games. I think he should be paid $900,000 per season if not a little more than a mil. But for this case, I will be ok with 1 year at $900,000 firm

He hasn't done much to justify a raise of $400,000.
Made $855,000 the previous three years, increased his point totals from 6 points in 18 games to 12 points in 57?
Given the right opportunity he could improve, but he has to earn it and earn his pay.
$750,000

IMO, he deserves less because he hasn't really done anything to be honest. I think he should get a little less than 900k. I think he should get at least 850k though. 600k is like just plain doing nothing.

You quoted why.
He hasn't done enough to justify a raise of $400k or even $300k. His salary was knocked down for a reason. Unable to play consistently at a high level in the big leagues. And he hasn't vastly improved. He has done enough to warrant an increase, but not a huge one.
A one year contract $700,000 contract is fair in my mind. I added the extra $50,000 to make it go smoother.
1 year $750,000

How about a rebuttal? I gave facts and valid reasoning. Can you at least present your own case?
All there is, is "He played 57 games" and "he deserves less because he hasn't really done anything to be honest. "

These are your reasons. "Unable to play consistently at a high level in the big leagues. And he hasn't vastly improved. He has done enough to warrant an increase, but not a huge one."
Those aren't reasons. Ok if you want reasons, I'll give u good ones. Tlusty is young (23), 57 games 12 points with 10 mins to 12 mins of ice time playing with 3rd and 4th liners. It seems that he has no good players to play with to actually develop solidly into a top 6 player. Ok I'll give you that he should get a low salary from the number of points. He was injured for 14 games so it stalled his development a bit. His shot percentage rose from 6.67% to 11.32% (huge improvement). You can't even compare sample sizes of 18 games and 57 games in terms of getting points. Tlusty is a two-way player. 750k is like for goons and leadership. He deserves an extra 50k for potential and two way game.
800k for 1 year

A slight shot % increase and an average two-way game does not justify a 300k raise, he had made $855,000 prior, and did not make enough to increase it then. Oh and he had a 14.5% then, in case that helps, somehow.
His offensive ability has not and highly doubt will transfer to the NHL level, he is being used a 4th liner in Carolina with spot duty. He has done nothing to justify an increase..let a alone a 300k/250k increase.
It appears we're at an impasse, though, you two believe he has done enough to justify a 300k raise, I do not.
I believe he is not even worth what I put on the table, 750k.
But, to keep things running, do the average, 2 votes for 800k and 1 vote 750k.. 1 year $783,333..round it
1 year $785,000

I was gonna say, its 2 against one, and in democracy, it should be 800,000. I already came down to that number. My points as to him earning what he should get, was stated in my first post. Maybe I should have said that he still got 12 points in those 57 games with limited ice time. Play the guy and he will increase his point totals.

Ok we gotta decide on this one fast. Guys, it's only 50k for a hockey player lol. For us maybe it's a lot, but sure i'll go with the 785k for 1 year.

It's two against one in a hearing where all need to decide. I split the difference with the 66.5% odds in your two favour.
1 year $785,000
