So, PR and I had a bit of a discussion last night regarding future ManNHL drafts (because we like to plan ahead and avoid any possible significant let downs) also because people (ME) like to trade draft picks (ALL OF THEM) without really knowing what they've dealt away ( =( ), and since this is a democracy league, we all get to vote on which option is best, therefore making all traded future draft picks BEYOND THIS CURRENT DRAFT equal across the board.
As you may or may not know, this week I will be posting a new thread allowing ALL teams to select two prospects from their hockeysfuture.com page to add to their club. You will then be able to negotiate contracts with those players (keeping in mind no player from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft are eligible to be selected as that is our current draft prospect list).
The following draft options are absolutely affected by which 2 prospects you select from that list.
OPTION A: PROSPECT RE-ENTRY
After you have selected two prospects from your depth pool, all remaining prospects become draft eligible beginning from the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. On a year to year basis, all players not currently on rosters (after the add two prospects ability) will be considered to have not reached a contract with their initial drafted club and will be the draft pool for each season.
For instance, next season would be the remaining prospects from the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, the following would be the 2008, and so on and so forth.
NOTE: This option will only continue until we have the next list of projected top prospects for the real life NHL Entry Draft.
OPTION B: DRAFT YOUR OWN PROSPECT
Let's face it, we all get excited over our favorite team's third round picks. If we didn't, guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg would not be interesting or awesome.
After you have selected your "add 2 prospects", all remaining prospects in your depth pool (OUTSIDE OF THE MOST RECENT DRAFT WE WILL CONDUCT) will be considered "your future property" and you may draft your own prospects into your system. This essentially extends the "add two prospects" ability on a year to year basis based on a first and second round pick.
Here is where this one gets interesting:
Because you are acquiring someone else's draft pick, you have the ability to either select YOUR OWN prospect or THAT TEAM'S prospect. This makes it worthwhile for clubs to decide whether or not they are willing to allow a top prospect to be taken, and can determine the valued price of their own draft pick.
If you acquire a team's second round pick, and another club has their first, the team with their first can select from that club's prospect pool BEFORE your pick.
NOTE: This option will only continue until we have the next list of projected top prospects for the real life NHL Entry Draft.
OPTION C: FAKE DRAFTEES
Just like most leagues, we would essentially make up neat names that you can all ooh and aah at, like Igor Talisbrouck and Martin Flatfingers, or Pubert Himmersnatch, that you will draft and think nothing of, or everything of I guess based on the name, but you can be sure there will definitely be a Justin Bieberage and likely a Will Smith kid in there that whips its hair back and forth. Essentially the names will be as retarded as this option actually is.
OPTION D: MEMBER SUGGESTION
Now you can be creative! Post your own suggestion and if the people like it best, it too can be voted on!
