Modano is signed for another season though so does his cap still count? If he JUST re-signed, then that was my mistake and no. If he is still under a previous contract, then it goes by the NHL's over 35 rule. The "35-and-Older" Clause: * When a player aged 35 or older signs a multi-year contract, his average salary is counted against the team's salary cap during every year of the contract, even if the player retires before the contract is up. |

Very surprised recchi is sticking it out for another season he didn't win a cup, and he had a pretty good season. I am more surprised by Kovalev, but he says he has another year in him, but wants a new venue to showcase it.  DRAMA! |

It's possible he was "auto-signed" to fill a void in the simulator. He only played 7 games, so he was clearly just filling in.
