HItting is part of the game. Elbowing someone in the back of the skull is not. At this point, its all he can do. Perhaps in retrospect we'll find it makes unwanted changes to the game, like what Cherry claims, but something MUST be done, and for now, the harsh penalties are something. They are sending messages. Its up to the players to get the damn message and adapt their game to fit it. Hit clean, and there's no problem. SHanny's been fair thus far.

The bigger the suspensions, the more money the players lose, the more they will think twice. You can put a kid in the corner and tell him not to do something, and he knows the punishment is to go in the corner IF he gets caught. Now, if the kid gets caught, he ALSO loses his allowance? Shanahan is doing it right.
