To Pittsburgh:
Smyth 87
To Colorado:
1st in 09 Malone 81
The clause works as such: Pitts gets Smyth for the playoffs, once the playoffs are completed, he will re-deal me back Smyth for Malone, while I keep the compensation of the 1st pick in order to obtain Smyth's services for the playoffs. This gives Smyth the opportunity at the cup while the Avs will go for more future. Smyth will be welcomed back, hopefully with the grail.
Pending player rep's approval of the clause and the waiving of the ntc.

I would recommend that it be Smyth's decision on whether or not to return to Colorado, once the season has finished. Perhaps if he does not feel the team has made enough adjustments, he can choose to stay in Pittsburgh... Thoughts?

Well if he decides to stay, I can move a player over to Colorado as compinsation. Which would be discussed between Col and myself

that sounds fair, perhaps malone and the 1st will remain his property.
