To San Jose:
2016 UFA CLAKE MACARTHUR 2.9 - 43pts 2017 RFA SAM REINHART 1.00
To Phoenix:
2016 UFA MAX PACIORETTY 4.7 - 35pts 2017 UFA CODY HODGSON 4.00 - 30pts
I accept on behalf of Phoenix. The league can now weigh-in.
Note: This trade will put Phoenix over the cap by three million, but they have two or three 4M+ players putting up ZERO points who could immediately be waived to make this a significant upgrade deal for the club.

Accept, MaxPac isn't worth the money, and I think Reinhart can step in and be better on our 2nd line.
I also lose like 5M in cap space.

Who are the players being waived? What is their ice time? And are they name players that, if claimed, reduce the value of PHX to any new GM that might come along to claim them?

not that bad of a deal since Pheonix is getting two top 6 forwards for one essentially. and Reinhart hasn't even been playing in the minors

Reinhart has done nothing, and the player likely to be waived by Phoenix is KYle Okposo (2 goals, -2 in 71 games)

reject. Not administrative reject, so if it has the proper accepts, it can go through, but if we are tallying votes, I would reject this)

I don't really understand why people are rejecting this one. Phoenix is out of the playoffs, and are getting a second line center and winger for the price of a 2nd line winger and a prospect... and the players in return are also young. Pacioretty's contract could then be re-negotiated after this year, while MacArthur is going to command a big raise.

accept. I don't mind when a team pays alittle for the cap dump unlike many other trades

1) If Reinhart is a nothing-factor, feel free to remove him from the trade. Then I would consider accepting.
2) Taking 2 30-point producers for nearly 9M drastically limits PHXs options in the FA, and in other trades. Why take on an extra 7M in cap in this trade (and lose a prospect) when they could KEEP the better producer, and SIGN a 30-40 point producer for less than 7M, keeping their cheap 43-point Clarke, and keeping their prospect.
3) Sharks himself says Max is not worth the money. So why should he be worth the money to someone else who doesn't actually need him if he isn't worth the money to Sharks?
4) PHX is moving its 3rd best player (1st liner) for a (current)2nd line F, and a 3rd line F. They would probably be even be lower on PHX - you're looking at 3rd line and 4th line most likely, based on PHXs current production.
5) PHX has high producers. When these 2 new guys walk into the team (in place of PHXs 3rd best producer) they become number 9, and number 16 on PHXs production standings. To me, that is not worth giving up your 3rd best player for, not to mention a prospect.

Clarky and Pac are FAs though. Pac will probably down in salary while Clarkie will most definately go up a million or two

But would that be a factor if it was YOUR team? I have to look at this as though I am PHX. If they want Pac, why not just offer him 4M on FA, and offer Clarke 4M as well, and then they get BOTH. And maintain Reinhardt. This seems like a lot of work just to acquire Hodgson as a 4th line F.

He may not be worth the money to me, but PHX could think so.
It's an acceptable deal, you are just going into it too much.
What makes you think MaxPac would hit UFA?

This deal still requires commenting, currently sitting at 2-2 for voting.

I'm honestly on the fence about this one... I don't like that a surrogate trade puts the surrogate team over cap and they're forced to waive a player, despite that player doing shit all.
On the other hand, player for player... it seems like a fair deal for both, especially since both Pac & Mac will be pending FAs...
I'll accept, BUT this deal has a rather large odor to it.

Yeah, tell us. Would you trade your first liner and a prospect for a 3rd and 4th liner and an additional $5M in cap?

what if reinhart gets taken out and replaced by a cap relief player like Okposo?

Still makes no sense to me based on what I said before. Trading a 1st liner for a 3rd and 4th liner.
